Every ~4 years, Bitcoin's supply issuance is cut in half. The historical cycle that follows has been one of the most consistent patterns in crypto markets.

What is the Halving?

Bitcoin's code limits total supply to 21 million BTC. Every 210,000 blocks (~4 years), the mining reward is cut in half. This event is called the halving.

Historical Pattern

HalvingDatePrice BeforeCycle Peak
1stNov 2012~$12~$1,200
2ndJul 2016~$650~$20,000
3rdMay 2020~$8,500~$69,000
4thApr 2024~$63,000TBD
History doesn't repeat in crypto β€” but it rhymes loudly.

Important Caveats

Past halvings occurred in very different market environments. Bitcoin's market cap is now much larger, making equivalent percentage gains harder. Never size a position based solely on cycle theory.
